Why there is no order yet
Three platforms have at least one verified field, and none has all eight. The verified fields also differ between platforms, so a single score would compare different evidence. Publishing an order now would mean either guessing the missing fields or treating the absence of a public page as a low score. This site does neither.

bestaicharacterchat.com does not rate how permissive a platform is, how good its characters are, how realistic its replies sound, or how safe a given character is. It also does not review companion apps built around one persona, roleplay campaign engines, or general-purpose chatbots. Those belong to other publications in the network, listed on the about page.

What is the best AI character chat platform in 2026?
bestaicharacterchat.com has not published an order for 2026. Seven of the 80 scored fields across the 10-platform shortlist are verified against official pages so far, and no platform has every scored field verified. The shortlist is alphabetical, and no platform is ranked first.
Does this site rank how permissive a platform is?
No. Content permissiveness, output quality and character quality are outside the method. The method uses public policy, pricing and data-control fields only.
Who is this site for?
Adults aged 18 and over only. Do not use this site or any platform it describes for content involving minors. Check each platform's official current policy before you sign up.
How often does this page change?
When a verified field changes or a new official page is captured. Each change is recorded with its capture date on the methodology page.
Evidence and method
Field values come from official pages read on 16 October 2026: the Character.AI subscribe and privacy pages, the DreamGen pricing page, the PolyBuzz homepage and the SillyTavern homepage. Source levels: the pricing and policy values are official primary text; PolyBuzz's free-access line and the SillyTavern description are vendor self-descriptions and are marked that way. Third-party roundups are used only to flag conflicts, never as the source of a value. Pages change without notice, some pages could not be captured, and no account was created and no platform was used in this edition.
